The "theme" was easy: Cherry Blossoms. It's spring time and, as with all things, there is always a meaning behind the theme chosen. In Japanese culture, these delicate flowers are a symbol of transience and hope, and in China, they symbolize feminine beauty and power - I knew immediately it would be the perfect Celebrate Mom! theme. We ordered our invitations:
There were a couple of vendors I had been wanting to work with since our Grand Opening event back in February: Amazing Cake Creations and Bite Couture Catering.
Let me start with Amazing Cake Creations. I met Grace at a networking event for bridal professionals and we immediately hit it off. Her smile is infectious, her attitude warm and welcoming and it's hard not to be drawn to someone who is always surrounded by yummy treats...right? Grace and her husband had a dream...and their dream is now coming to life - to have their own business to support their young family. Alex (Grace's husband), is the baker and artist who creates all the amazing works of art. Alex has been honing his craft for a little over 10 years now. Grace is the face of the growing business so, the first time I met Alex in person was the day of our event. Alex comes in and he is this tall guy - soft spoken, with a gentle demeanor. I had just sent them a copy of our invite and said "be creative". As he is unpacking the boxes, setting up everything on the awesome cupcake stand provided by a mutual friend, My Cake Plate, I was in awe! The cake and cupcakes were gorgeous!
We immediately all had to sample the mini cupcakes - and they were all delicious. When it finally came time to cut the cake, I must admit, it was difficult. I felt so bad cutting into the beautiful cake. For our local brides (or anyone needing a special occasion cake) we think you will fall in love with Amazing Cake Creations!
The second vendor I was thrilled to finally be able to collaborate with was Bite Couture Catering. I had talked with Chef Elizabeth and her team when I was doing a search for a catering company that specialized in the new craze in wedding foods: MINI. I had a tough time finding a catering company in Southern California who had caught on to this new idea in catered foods (Darcy Miller, made famous by everything Martha Stewart, hosted the book launch for Peter Callahan's book Bite By Bite in 2011 - that pretty much sealed deal of the "mini food movement" which has forever changed weddings and cocktail parties). California always seems run behind in catching up with trends from the East Coast and maybe it's because Chef Elizabeth is originally from the East Coast that she "gets it" when it comes to catering or...maybe she is just wildly creative - the truth is probably somewhere in the middle! Due to my short notice we couldn't connect for our Grand Opening event but, Elizabeth kept in touch with me and when the Celebrate Mom! event started going I asked her if she was available - much to my delight - she was! I felt comfortable leaving the menu and details up to her and I knew there was no way to be disappointed. I wasn't. I was over the moon impressed! Bite Couture Catering is a little different when it comes to how they operate - I like to think of them as a boutique caterer. Of course they travel to you, just like any other caterer and they also have a drop off service but, the most unique thing about them is that they also have a versatile space, which can be set up for a casual brunch, luncheon, shower or boardroom.
Our Celebrate Mom! event was a huge success, thanks to our friends who helped us create the perfect celebration for moms at the store. We are so thankful to get to know the vendors because, we also know that when we refer our customers to them that they are in good hands! Our brides, maids and moms are all an extended part of our family and we want to make sure they are taken care of - we know that with Amazing Cake Creations and Bite Couture Catering you will be treated with exceptional service!
And this day was all about moms - celebrating who they are, what they have done for us and how they have shaped us into the people we are today. I am grateful for my mom and miss her every day. Cherish these times with them - the BIG life moments and the little life moments...each of them are precious!
My mom "giving me away" on my wedding day...love you mom!! xoxo
